Cider made from 100% fruit

When we discovered the Griggs family at Lucaston Orchards in the Huon Valley were still growing the famous old English cider variety, Sturmer Pippin that was all the motivation we needed to produce a traditional, unfiltered, bottle fermented farmhouse cider made using only apples and yeast.  7.5% alc. vol.

Known as ‘Perry’ to the English, we have chosen the word ‘Poire’ in recognition of our preference for French sparkling farmhouse ciders.  Made using pears sourced from Nubeena on the Tasman Peninsula. 4.5% alc. vol.   Very small quantities of this cider are now made.  We have a tiny quantity of our 2011, 2012 & 2014 blended vintages availble in 750ml bottles only.

A little note on INGREDIENTS

Our farmhouse cider is made from whole fruit juice and yeast.

Many commercially produced ciders are made from fruit concentrate

and have added sugar.  We just use freshly crushed apples & pears.

We use NO sulphur dioxide and NO preservatives.

Our cider is also gluten free.

But I like a sweet cider ...

Yes, our ciders are both very dry.  That doesn't mean you can't enjoy a sweet drink more to your liking.  The Europeans have been adding their own sugar to dry cider for centuries. Why not follow their tradition and add sugar to taste?
